For the last few years, I’ve been lucky enough to work in the strange world of travel video, facing the challenges that come with traveling for shoots with no crew or gear other than what can fit in a backpack. Often traveling with small crews (read: me and one other person) and alongside a stills photographer, you can make friends... or not, fast.
One of my frequent clients is OneSight, a nonprofit that’s been delivering vision care to places in need for over twenty five years. A few years ago, they began a dramatic evolution from a straightforward vision charity to an innovative NGO, and I’ve been lucky enough to witness that change up close. Stay tuned for more tales from OneSight in future posts.
I’ve had the pleasure of traveling the world with Jon Willis, who shoots stills for OneSight (did I mention our Noble Denim collab?). He's one of those friends you have who you know is talented, but until you shamelessly stalk his portfolio you forget just how much range he has.
He’s dynamic, shooting travel, portrait, and lifestyle photography for commercial and print. He has an uncanny way of making strangers feel comfortable in just a moment- often without even speaking the same language.
Do yourself a favor and stalk that portfolio. You can find his OneSight work on their website, as well as in various stores that partner with the non-profit.
